Walters State tees it up in first two rounds of Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, TN – Walters State got their third tournament of the spring season under way on Monday afternoon, competing in the first two rounds of the Tennessee River Rumble.  

The Senators stand as a team at 40-over with one round remaining. Young Harris is currently in first place with a score of 13-under. 

Walters State was led by Nate Vaughan who currently sits in 28th place at one-over. Vaughan shot an opening round 74 but bounced back in round two with a one-under 71. 

Following Vaughan is Chad Homan who is in 69th place with a score of eight-over. Homan shot a 79 in the first round but improved his score by six shots in round two, firing a 73.  

Hunter Hartman is right behind Homan in 78th place with a score of 11-over. Hartman shot a 77 in round one and 78 in round two. Behind Hartman is Justin Cowden with a score of 20-over after shooting an 81 and 83. 

Zach Wood rounded out the Senators scoring on the day with a 28-over after shooting two 86's.  

Wingate's Charles Joubert currently leads the tournament after shooting a 10-under.  

UP NEXT: 

Walters State will be back in action on Tuesday at 9 a.m. for the final round of the Tennessee River Rumble. This is the final tournament for Walters State before competing in the NJCAA District J Golf Tournament in two weeks.
