Walters State in fourth place after first round of Eagle Invitational

COHUTTA, GA – Sawyer Spoone and Hunter Hartman are in a tie for fifth place following the first round of the Eagle Invitational on Monday afternoon as Walters State is in fourth place as a team. 

 

The Senators shot a 15-over as a team and are one shot back of Cleveland State. Bob Jones is in first place with a team score of 12-over. 

 

Spoone and Hartman led the way for the Senators with 74, 2-overs. Hartman birdied holes 10, 13 and 16 while Spoone birdied five and seven and back-to-back holes on nine and 10. 

 

Nate Vaughan is closely behind both Spoone and Hartman after the first round, shooting a 75, 3-over that has him in a tie for seventh place. Vaughan birdied both holes two and seven in the round.

 

Rounding out the day for Walters State was Justin Cowden with an 8-over and Chad Homan with a 9-over. Cowden birdied holes two, three and nine while Homan birdied holes one and 14.

 

Bryan College's Kevin Rothwell leads the tournament with a 1-under, 71.
