Blaylock announces WSCC volleyball slate

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — Walters State head volleyball coach Megan Blaylock debuted the 2019 schedule for the Lady Senators Tuesday afternoon.

 

Nine home matches, nine true road tilts and a total of 28 matches with three tournaments sprinkled in line the docket for Blaylock, assistant coach Erika Waycaster and the Lady Senators this fall.

 

The season begins on Friday, Aug. 23, when the Lady Senators head over the Blue Ridge Mountains to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to take part in the Spartanburg Methodist Invitational. At the two-day tournament, Walters State will face Cape Fear, Wallace State-Hanceville host Spartanburg Methodist and a yet to be determined opponent.

 

The home opener will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, as the Lady Senators host Bryan College at 6:30 p.m. inside 'Z' Buda Gymnasium. On Saturday, Aug. 31, Walters State will host Surry at 2 p.m.

 

The month of September opens with a trip to Vincennes, Indiana, to take part in the Blazer Classic at Vincennes University on Sept. 6-7. The Lady Senators will face the host Blazers, as well as Wabash Valley, Lake Land and John A. Logan in the four-match tournament.

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Lady Senators return home to take on Southwest Virginia before traveling to Knoxville to face Covenant College on Friday, Sept. 13.

 

Tennessee Community College Athletic Association play begins on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a home match against Cleveland State before hosting Chattanooga State on Friday, Sept. 20.

 

A stretch of three road tilts closes the month of September, as Walters State will visit Catawba Valley (Sept. 24), Bryan College (Sept. 26) and Montreat (Sept. 30) before hosting Covenant College on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

 

The second set of TCCAA matches will take place in early October, as the Lady Senators travel to Cleveland State on Friday, Oct. 4 before heading to the Lookout City to take ton Chattanooga State on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

 

On Oct. 11-12, Walters State will face Cleveland State, Wallace-Selma, Chattanooga State and Lawson State in the Wallace State Tournament in Hanceville, Alabama, before traveling to Virginia to take on Southwest Virginia on Thursday, Oct. 17.

 

Walters State will host Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday, Oct. 19, and Montreat on Monday, Oct. 21, before taking part in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament at Chattanooga State on Oct. 25-26.

 

The regular season concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with Sophomore Night against Catawba Valley.
