GREENVILLE, SC – No. 19 Walters State completed their fourth straight sweep on Friday evening after a week off, taking down the Bob Jones JV team 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-20).
With the victory, Walters State improves to 8-0 on the season. It was their second sweep of the season against Bob Jones JV.
Things started off tight for the Lady Senators as they battled back-and-forth in the first set. With the score 24-21, Walters State about gave the set away as Bob Jones scored twice. But, after a timeout, the Lady Senators bogged down and took home the first set.
The Lady Senators have now taken the first set in every match this season.
Set two saw more of the same as the two teams would not give an inch. Walters State would eventually build a 19-14 lead, but four straight points from Bob Jones forced a timeout. Once again, the Lady Senators settled down after the timeout and scored the next six points to take home set two.
In set three, the Lady Senators once again battled with Bob Jones, however, Walters State pulled away in the end and took home the final set by five points.
With the sweep, the Lady Senators have dropped just two sets all season.
UP NEXT:
Walters State will be back in action in conference play on Tuesday, March 2, taking on Roane State on the road. That match will begin at 6:30.
The Lady Senators have taken down Roane State 3-1 and 3-0 the first two matches this season.
