No. 15 Senators open TCCAA play with dominant 10-0 win over Chatt State

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – It was a dominant performance from the No. 15-ranked Walters State baseball team, opening up conference play with a 10-0 win in seven innings over Chattanooga State on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Senators improve to 13-6 on the season and 1-0 in TCCAA play. The win was Walters State's second in-a-row.

Andrew Lindsey (3-1) got the call on the mound for the Senators and continued his impressive start to the season, throwing a complete game shutout. Lindsey allowed no runs on five hits and struck out nine. Lindsey now has 36 strikeouts in five appearances this season.

Lindsey had a lot of help in the game as the Walters State offense, after failing to score in the first and second innings, WSCC scored at least a run in each of the last five frames. The Senators scored one in the third, two in the fourth, fifth and sixth and three in the seventh.

Max Riemer led Walters State at the plate, going 3-for-3, including his first home run of the season in the third that got the scoring going. Riemer also knocked in the second run of the game, in the fourth, on a single to right field.

Along with Riemer, Michael Robinson and Bryce Hodge each had two hits in the game and both knocked in a run. Robinson knocked in the third run of the game on a bunt single in the fourth. Hodge followed up in the fifth with a single to left field that scored a run to make it 4-0. In total, the Senators had eight players knock in runs.
