JOHNSON CITY, TN – No. 8 Walters State played about as clean of baseball as they possibly could on Sunday afternoon against Roane State. 

The Senators swept Roane State for the second time this season, out-scoring them 26-1 in a 15-0 win and 11-1 victory. Walters State totaled 24 hits on the day and got two complete games on the mound from Hayden Summers and Kohl Drake.  

Offensively, Alberto Osuna had two home runs and five RBIs. Osuna is hitting .486 this year with seven home runs and 27 RBIs.  

With the sweep, Walters State is now 12-1 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.  

NO. 8 WALTERS STATE 15, ROANE STATE 0 

Things started off quick for the Senators as they blasted the Raiders in game one.  

Summers threw a complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out seven. Summers is now 4-0 on the season with a 0.53 ERA in 17 innings pitched.  

Offensively, Jerry Hammons led the team with three hits while Cam Fisher knocked in five runs and had a home run. Corbin Shaw hit a home run as well while Matthew Ellis and Lukas Cook each had two hits.  

Fisher got the scoring going early for Walters State, blasting a three-run home run in the top of the first. Ellis extended the lead in the second with an RBI double that scored two. The next batter after Ellis, Osuna, extended the lead to 7-0 with a home run off the batter's eye.  

Skylar Cannady made it 9-0 in the third with a triple that scored two and Caleb McNeely, the very next batter, tripled as well to score Cannady. A Hammons RBI double and an error that scored two capped off the scoring in the third. Shaw added some fireworks in the fifth with a two-run home run that made it 15-0.  

NO. 8 WALTERS STATE 11, ROANE STATE 1 

The Senators carried the momentum from game one over to game two, pouring on six runs in the first inning to put the game away early.  

It was Osuna who got the scoring started with a bases loaded single that scored two. Noah Gent then tripled home Osuna and Ellis. Nick Block capped off the scoring with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot that made it 6-0.  

Walters State added four more in the second as Fisher doubled home two and Gent homered. Osuna rounded out the scoring with a solo shot in the fourth. 

Osuna led the way in game two with three hits and three RBIs. Gent and Block each had two hits while Gent led the team with four RBIs.  

It was Drake who got the start on the mound for Walters State, his second start of the season, and he improved to 1-1 with the win. Drake threw a complete game, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.  

UP NEXT:  

Walters State will be back in action on Wednesday, taking on Motlow State at home. That doubleheader begins at 12 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
