Senators in sixth place after day one of the 2019 State Farm Intercollegiate

TAZEWELL, Tenn. — After the opening two rounds of the 2019 State Farm Intercollegiate golf tournament hosted by Lincoln Memorial University, the Walters State golf team sits in third place with a score of +21. Host LMU leads the field after Day One after finishing Monday with a -11 combined scoresheet at the Woodlake Golf and Country Club.

 

The Railsplitters are joined by fellow NCAA Division II squads in the Top five. Newberry is second with a -5, Queens is third with a +3, Coker is fourth with a +10 and LMU's 'B" team is fifth with a +11.

 

Walters State sits right in the middle tied at sixth in the 12-team field. The Senators were led by freshman Chad Homan (Knoxville, Tenn.), who finished the day at 3-over. Freshman Hogan Herring (Crossville, Tenn.) finished 4-over, sophomore Stephen Owen (Rogersville, Tenn.) shot 5-over, sophomore Drew Linkous (Cleveland, Tenn.) was 9-over and freshman Zach Wood (Greeneville, Tenn.) wrapped up the two rounds of golf at +16.

 

Lincoln Memorial's Dan Bradbury leads after day one after shooting 6-under par. Felipe Garces from Newberry is second at 4-under.

 

The final round will be played Tuesday at the Woodlake Golf and Country Club with teams teeing off at 9 a.m.
