Rome, Ga. — Day two did not go as planned for the Walters State golf team. After starting the day in first place with sophomore Andrew Linkous (Cleveland, Tenn.) atop the individual leaderboard, the links were not kind. The Senators dropped three spots to finish in sixth place with a two-day score of 611, while Linkous finished tied for 14th with a combined 84.
It was a rough day all around as the best team score was an 8-over from host Berry College, who finished third with a two-day score of 597. Tournament winner LaGrange shot a +13 as a squad on the day.
Huntington College's "B" team took second with 594 at 18-over. Birmingham Southern (607) and Texas Lutheran (608) rounded out the top five.
Ben Womack from LaGrange and Michael Rosenbloom from Emory shared the individual title, finishing even with a 144. Sam Rogers from LaGrange was third with a 146 for a 2-over par.
Freshman Hogan Herring (Crossville, Tenn.) finished tied for 37th with a 10-ver 154. Freshman Chad Homan (Knoxville, Tenn.) tied for 45th with an 11-over 155. Sophomore Steven Owen (Rogersville, Tenn.) shared the 55th spot with a 14-over 158 and freshman Zach Wood (Greeneville, Tenn.) shot a 17-over 161 to split the 68th spot.
The tournament wraps up the Senators' fall campaign. They'll begin their spring tournament season in March, 2020.
