Homan tied for second after first day of Hargett Invitational

MONROE, N.C. — Walters State's Chad Homan finished the opening day of the Hargett Memorial Invitational tied for second place at 3-under at Stonebrdge Golf Club Monday.

 

Homen is locked in a two-way tie with Wilmington University's Enrique Valverde. Wingate University's Yannick Koehnen sits in first place at 4-under.

 

Lenoir-Rhyne's Cole Southerland is fourth at 2-under. There's a three-way tie to round out the top five with Charles Joubert and Wes Simmons of Wingate sitting at 1-under along with Lenoir-Rhyne's Liam Waldron.

 

As a team, the Senators sit in 10th place with a 38-over combined score. Host university Wingate leads the team competition with a combined 7-under. Lenoir-Rhyne (6-over), Goldey-Beacom (16-over), Erskine (17-over) are the Top Four with Belmont Abbey amd Concordia College both holding down fifth at 22-over.

 

WSCC's Stephen Owen sits tied in 30th place after the first day of golf with an 8-over, 152. Andrew Linkous is tied for 44th with a +14.  Ty Sauceman is tied for 49th with a 19-over 163. Hogan Herring's 22-over 166 puts him in 52nd place.

 

There remains a full round of golf to be played, starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Stonebridge Golf Club.
