Senators in a tie for seventh after second round of NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State again battled cold, wind and rain in the second round of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Wednesday at Swan Lake Resort.
As a team, the Senators improved their score by a shot with a 16-over on the day. Walters State is 33-over for the tournament and is in a tie for seventh.
Bowen Brantley led the way for Walters State, shooting 1-over on the day. Brantley birdied the third hole and then had back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes. On the back nine, Brantley had birdies on 11 and 17 to shoot 73. Brantley is 4-over for the tournament and in a tie for 10th place.
Along with Brantley, Blake Woody shot 4-over on Wednesday to sit at 8-over for the tournament. Woody had birdies on two and five and then birdied 18 after reaching the green in two. Woody is in 37th.
Sloan Brooks was next for Walters State, shooting five-over in his second round. Brooks had one birdie on the day, on the 10th hole, and is in 59th place at 11-over.
Also at 11-over for the tournament is Alex Gaetz. Gaetz shot 6-over in his second round, with a nice birdie putt from around eight feet on 18. Gaetz is also in 59th place.
Rounding the team was Nick Talley at 19-over for the tournament. Talley shot 14-over on Wednesday, birdieing the par 5 fifth hole after chipping to a foot. Talley is in 102nd.
