Walters State women finish 10th, men 13th at Berry College Invitational

Rome, Ga. — Aaliyah Mattison paced the Walters State women to a 10th place finish in the Berry Invitational Saturday at Berry College finishing 42nd. On the men's side, Chance Collins was 105th in the field to help the Senators finish 13th.


Emory won the men's 8K, with a team score of 20. For the women, it was Chattanooga that claimed the title, with a team score of 26. The Walters State men scored a 403 and the women 270.


Mattison (Morristown, Tenn.), a freshman, ran the women's 6K with a time of 25:34.97. Freshman Dakota McKinney (Morristown, Tenn.) was 54th with a time of 26:28.29, freshman Lindsey Seagle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) was 82nd at 28:54.36, sophomore Karli Yarid (Morristown, Tenn.) was 83rd at 29:08.01, freshman Breanna Scearce (Washburn, Tenn.) was 117th with a time of 37:54.63 and freshman Deniela Medina (Morristown, Tenn.) was 120th, running a 40:14.98.


Collins (Seymour, Tenn.) also a freshman, ran a 28:46.34 as the men's top finisher. Freshman Kevin Perez-Padilla (Newport, Tenn.) ran a 30:59.24 to take 147th, freshman Christopher Gaby (Morristown, Tenn.) placed 154th with 31:19.51, freshman Kenneth Manning (Clinton, Tenn.) was 158th with 31:37.02, sophomore Andy Villagran (Sevierville, Tenn.) was 163rd with 31:54.31, freshman Austin Coffman (Washburn, Tenn.) was 171 with 34:06.19 and freshman Nicholas Noble (Morristown, Tenn.) finished 172nd with a time of 34:11.39.


Walters State will lace up its running shoes again Friday when in the NJCAA Region VII meet in Maryville, Tenn.
