TULLAHOMA, TN – Walters State dominated on both ends of the court Wednesday evening, cruising to a 78-29 win over Motlow State.
With the win, Walters State improved to 14-6 overall and 11-2 in TCCAA play. The Lady Senators upped their winning streak to seven with the victory.
It was a balanced effort for Walters State, with Asia Barr continuing her impressive play over the last few weeks. Against Motlow, Barr hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 25 points. It's the second straight game with seven 3-pointers for Barr.
Along with Barr, Kyra Perkins had a phenomenal night with 20 points. Other scorers for Walters State were Kristyna Boyd with 11, Tianna Rhodes with seven, Juilenne Ongbagnamen with six, Lia Wright with three, Briontanay Marshall with two, Janae Charles with two and Emmanuella Amaefula with two.
The 78 points ties for the second most points in a game this season for Walters State. The Lady Senators also scored 78 points on November 11, 2023 against Spartanburg Methodist and scored 85 points on December 11, 2023 against Concord University JV.
It was a quick start for Walters State in the game with 20 points, leading 20-7. Perkins outscored Motlow in the opening 10 minutes with nine points, while Boyd added six.
In the second, the Lady Senators added 21 more points and led 41-15 at the break. Barr hit three 3-pointers in the quarter, and Boyd had five more points.
Barr hit three more 3-pointers in the third quarter and Rhodes had seven, as the Lady Senators got up 65-20. In the fourth, the Lady Senators closed things out with 13 more points and held Motlow to nine.

Walters State will be back in action on Saturday at home against Southwest Tennessee. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
