Boyd, Coleman to participate in Hall of Fame 3-on-3 event

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State women's basketball coach Jasmin Coleman has been selected to coach at the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame 3-on-3 event in Knoxville later in the month. The Lady Senators' Kristyna Boyd will participate in the event, as well.

The event will take place during Hall of Fame Weekend, April 25-28, at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville. It is the inaugural event and is for junior college sophomores. There will be eight teams and 32 participants. Eight of the participants will be named HOF All-Americans at the end of the weekend.

Boyd will participate in the event after a successful sophomore season for the Lady Senators. Boyd played in all 28 games, averaging 13 points and eight rebounds per game. Boyd scored 20 points in three games this season.

Meanwhile, Coleman will coach in the event after leading Walters State to a 19-9 record. The Lady Senators advanced to the TCCAA/Region VII Championship game.

Along with Coleman, seven other coaches will participate in the 3-on-3 event. Those coaches include Darryl Watkins (Rock Valley), Precious Ivy (Trinity Valley), Rosalie Hayenga (Minnesota West), Briana Brooks (Georgia Highlands), Jeff Allen (Collin County Community College), MJ Baker (Eastern Florida) and Misty Opat (Cochise).

During the weekend, the 25th Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Class will be inducted at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on April 27. That class includes Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Rita Gail Easterling, Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Violet Palmer, Sue Phillips and Mary "Roonie" Scovel.

Boyd, and the rest of the participants, will have a meet and greet with the HOF Inductees and will attend the HOF Ceremony. They will get to tour the HOF, as well.
