
MORRISTOWN, TN – All nine Walters State players scored, including four in double figures, on Tuesday evening against Pellissippi State as the Lady Senators picked up a 77-39 win.
With the victory, Walters State improved to 19-5 overall and 16-1 in TCCAA play.
"I thought we did a better job of handling the ball and utilizing our post players," Walters State coach Jasmin Coleman said. "We must continue to remain disciplined and focused heading into our last three games and postseason."
Terryauna Griffin led the way for the Lady Senators with 21 points, while Raegan Starks added 15 and Nyjah Gibbs finished with 13. Other scorers for Walters State were Kyra Perkins with 10 points, Jahliya McDonald with six points, Alexis Hood with six points, Ellie Linx with three points, Morgan Williams with two points and Anaya Mulholland-Natt with one point.
The Lady Senators got out to an 18-9 lead in the opening quarter against Pellissippi and led 20-14 at the end of the first. Griffin hit two threes and had eight points, while Gibbs scored six and Perkins scored four.
In the second, the Lady Senators hit three threes and led 37-23 at the break. Starks hit two of the threes and had six points, while McDonald had four and Linx hit a trey.
The third quarter was the highest-scoring for Walters State, totaling 24 points and holding Pellissippi State to four points, and led 61-27 going to the fourth. Griffin had eight points, while Gibbs added five and Perkins had four.
In the fourth, Walters State closed things out and took the 77-39 win. In the final 10 minutes, Starks and Griffin each had five points while Gibbs, McDonald and Hood each scored as well.
