Malon Smith named TCCAA and NJCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
MORRISTOWN, TN – Malon Smith was named the TCCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday, and was awarded the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball National Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Smith has been solid to start the season for the Lady Senators. Through the first three games of the season, Smith is averaging 14.7 points, seven rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. Smith is shooting 58.1% from the field.
In her first game of the season, Smith led Walters State with 19 points and 4 steals in a 65-54 win over No. 2 Shelton State. The next day, against Northeast Mississippi, Smith finished with a triple-double as she had 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
This past Saturday, Smith finished with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 61-59 win over Southwest Tennessee.
Smith has helped guide Walters State to a 3-0 record and a No. 8 ranking in the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Top 25.
Smith and the Lady Senators will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Roane State at 5:30 pm ET.
