BOAZ, AL – No. 12 Walters State finished out the Snead State Classic on Saturday afternoon with two wins, defeating Snead State 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20) and Wallace State 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-7, 25-11).
With the wins, Walters State improved to 19-4 overall.
In the opening match against Snead State, the Lady Senators dropped the first set but were unfazed and grabbed the next three. Lauren Mims led the way with 21 digs, 11 kills and two aces while Emma Miller had 21 assists, three aces and 10 digs.
Other contributors for the Lady Senators were Finley Surber with 11 kills and two blocks, Payton Brown with 16 digs and three aces, Rylee Haynie with eight kills and five blocks and Olivia Brown with 15 assists and eight digs.
Against Wallace State, Haynie led the way with 10 kills and seven blocks while Veda Barton had 10 kills and four blocks. Other contributors were Mims with eight kills, four blocks and 10 digs, Alyssa Campbell with seven kills and three blocks, Payton Brown with 11 digs and two aces, Olivia Brown with 20 assists and two aces and Mykanna McMahon with 12 digs and an ace.
