MORRISTOWN, TN – For the first time in program history, the Walters State volleyball team has won an NJCAA Weekly honor.
On Wednesday, freshman Rylee Haynie was named the NJCAA DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. The honor comes after being named the TCCAA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Haynie earned the honor following an unbelievable week. In five matches, Haynie had 48 kills, two aces, 11 digs and 32 total blocks. The 32 total blocks are a program record for a week.
Haynie helped lead Walters State to a 4-1 week, with wins over Pellissippi State, Pearl River, Snead State and Wallace State.
Haynie and the Lady Senators will be back in action on Thursday, when they travel to take on Cleveland Community College at 6 p.m.
