MORRISTOWN, TN – Brando Resendiz came into Friday's Walters State Half Marathon as the course record holder and left it the same way, except this time with a new time.
After running 1:16:57 last year at the event, Resendiz narrowly edged his time this time around as he finished Friday's race at 1:16:28.
As a team, the Senators won the event with an average time of 1:21:03.
Along with Resendiz, Gideon Erwin had a strong race as he came in second with a time of 1:17:37. Wade Walters was third in the race with a time of 1:29:43.
Other runners for Walters State included Jessie Ramos in sixth with a time of 1:32:34, Ignacio Vargas Huipe in seventh with a time of 1:33:12 and Benjamin Eigenmann in 10th with a time of 1:54:04.
For the Lady Senators, Chloe Williford finished in fourth place with a time of 1:51:06. The only other runner for Walters State was Lani Helton as she finished in eighth with a time of 2:02:41.
Pellissippi State's Joceylyn Chipoco-DeGrado won the women's race with a time of 1:46:04.

Walters State will be back in action next Friday at the Roanoke Invitational in Salem, VA.
