Walters State cycling continues to grow at Lees McRae event

BANNER ELK, NC -- Walters State competed in their third race of the season at Lees McRae in a joint ACC and SEC event over the weekend.

This week saw a different team for Walters State as the team's first female rider, Jessabelle Spencer, competed.  She started off the season with a great showing.  With only one week's planning, she finished eighth in her cross country race, competing against Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia Tech, Auburn, NC State, Milligan, Lees McCrae and Kennesaw State. A great start to Walters State Women's Cycling Team.

Hayden Sinnamon and Carter Dickerson once again had a strong ride.  Hayden leading the team in the cross country event finishing fifth and Carter improving on his times from previous races finishing 21st overall.  Their race consisted of athletes from 14 different colleges and universities.  It was a good showing for Walters State as the team continues to grow and improve throughout the season.

This week, we head into the Conference Championships that we being held at Truett McConnell this upcoming weekend.
