Walters State cycling competes at conference tournament

ANNISTON, AL – This past weekend, the WSCC Cycling Club competed in their Conference Championship. Two cyclists raced in the championships and in the Time Trial, Criterium and Road Races.

Kaden Wilson, in his first Conference Championship, got off to a rough start in the Time Trial but pushed through and put in a strong performance, building momentum going into next season.

Hayden Sinnamon, racing in his third Conference Championship, put forward his best number on the year.  His competition was fierce this year, as he moved up into a harder category and raced well against a strong field of riders.

Overall, the team performed well this year.  Walters State finished 15th out of 24 schools in their conference, finishing ahead of big schools like University of Georgia, ETSU, Auburn and South Carolina.

"Kaden Wilson, who was new to the team this year, learned a lot during his first Conference Championship," Walters State coach Brian Lassiter said. " I'm looking forward to what is to come in the fall as we go into the mountain bike season.

"Hayden finished the season fifth overall in the SECCC conference for points, jumping 3 spots from eighth to fifth with his results from the Conference Championship.  This was Hayden's final race for Walters State.  He has performed incredibly these past two years as he led the WSCC Cycling team."

This was the final race of the season and the team is now looking toward the mountain biking season, which begins next fall.  The team will have returning athletes Kaden Wilson and Belle Spencer.
