Jerome, Williams named to 2022 All-TCCAA Basketball Teams

DYERSBURG, TN – On Saturday at the Region VII Basketball Tournament, Walters State's Josh Jerome and Deovaunta Williams were recognized for their play on the court this season. 

 

Jerome was named to the All-TCCAA First Team while Williams was named to the All-TCCAA Second Team.

 

During his first season as a Senator, Jerome played in 29 games, averaging 10.9 points per game to go along with 6.9 rebounds per game. Jerome shot 80.8% from the free-throw line and 43.1% from the field.

 

Jerome's season-high in points happened twice this season, when he scored 23 points against Dyersburg and 23 points against Caldwell. Jerome scored over 20 points one more time during the season, totaling 21 points against Experience Academy. 

 

Williams' second season didn't start until the beginning of 2022, but he made the most of it, earning second team honors. 

 

Williams played in 14 games, averaging 17.4 points per game, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Williams shot 70.8% from the free-throw line and 47.8% from the field. 

 

Williams' season-high in points came against Cleveland State when he threw in 30 points. Williams scored over 20 points in five games this season, totaling 25 against Roane State, 21 against Columbia State and 27 against Motlow State. 

 

Both Williams and Jerome helped lead Walters State to a 17-14 record overall. The Senators went 13-5 at home this season and were 8-10 in the conference, earning the No. 5 seed in the Region VII Tournament.
