Houge named NJCAA DI Men’s Basketball Honorable Mention All-American

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State's Michael Houge was phenomenal for the Senators all season and was honored for it nationally. 

 

On Tuesday, the NJCAA announced their All-American Teams with Houge being named Honorable Mention All-American. 

 

Houge becomes the first Walters State men's basketball All-American since De'Marius Boyd in the 2020-21 season. 

 

A Chattanooga, TN native, Houge earned the honor after producing a monstrous season for the Senators. Houge averaged 19.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game and shot 58.7% from the field. He scored double-digits in every game during the season and recorded 20 double-doubles. He ended the season with 17 straight double-doubles. 

 

Houge ranked second in the conference in points per game, third in rebounds per game and fourth in field goal percentage. Houge's most complete game of the season came on Jan. 8 against Experience Academy, scoring 19 points and grabbing 24 rebounds. In his final two games, Houge scored 31 and 33 points and grabbed 13 and 11 rebounds. 

 

Houge was named to the All-TCCAA/Region VII First Team and helped lead Walters State to their first 20-win season since 2018-19. The Senators went 20-11 and 12-6 in TCCAA play.
