No. 25 Walters State picks up road win over Volunteer State, 102-68

GALLATIN, TN – No. 25 Walters State had four in double-figures on Monday evening against Volunteer State, taking a 102-68 victory.

 

With the win, Walters State improved to 17-1 overall and 8-1 in TCCAA play. The Senators played four games over the last seven days, going 4-0 to take a one-game lead atop the conference standings. 

 

Leading the way for Walters State in the game was Jamar Livingston with 18 points. Ramondo Battle was right behind Livingston with 17 points, to go along with nine rebounds. JR Jacobs had eight points and 10 assists, as well.

 

Other contributors for the Senators included Malachi Hale with 11 points, Greg Moore with 10 points, Micah Simpson with nine points and Jaylen Wharton with eight points.

 

As a team, the Senators are averaging 97.1 points per game after Monday's performance, putting them fifth in the country in points per game. Defensively, the Senators are top-25 in the country in points allowed per game, sitting at 66.5. 

 

The Senators and Pioneers were tied at 18 early in the game on Monday, until Walters State took control late in the half and led 44-34. 

 

In the second half, Walters State kept the pedal on the gas as they scored 58 more points and held Vol State to 34.

Walters State will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to play Dyersburg State. Tip is set for 5 p.m. ET. The Senators took a 125-53 victory the first time the two teams met this season.
