Rinehart named All- Tournament; Walters State finishes second in East Tennessee Collegiate

JOHNSON CITY, TN – Walters State fell just one shot short of taking home the East Tennessee Collegiate title on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in second place behind the University of the Cumberlands. 

The Senators shot a 287 on the day, bettering their first-round score by 12 shots. Walters State finished with a score of 586, just one behind Cumberlands 585.  

On Tuesday, Walters State was led by Jeremy Ellis who shot a 2-under, 70. He finished with a 148 for the tournament, good for tied for eighth.  

Following Ellis on the day was AJ Rinehart and Hunter Hartman with 72's. Rinehart finished in third place for the tournament with a 143, good enough to earn All-Tournament honors in his first tournament for Walters State. Hartman shot a 150 that put him in a tie for 14th. 

Rounding out the scoring on the day for Walters State was Sawyer Spoone who shot a 73. Spoone finished the tournament with a 148 that put him in a tie for eighth with Ellis. 

Milligan's Ty Beasley won the tournament after shooting a 3-under, 141 for the tournament.  

Up Next: 

Walters State will be back in action on Oct.11 when they host the Walters State Fall Classic. The Classic will take place at The Country Club and will be a two-day tournament.
