JOPLIN, MO – Led by Nate Vaughan, Walters State is in a tie for seventh place following the first two rounds of the NJCAA DII National Fall Preview on Monday.
The Senators shot a 623, a 315 in round one and a 308 in round two. Mississippi Gulf Coast is currently in first place after shooting a 580.
Vaughan is the top man for Walters State after the first two rounds and is in a tie for 11th place with a 150. After a 76 in round one, Vaughan heated up in round two when he birdied 10,11 and 12. Vaughan finished the round with a 74.
Sawyer Spoone is in a tie for 15th after the first two rounds with a 152. In round one, Spoone carded a 74, making two birdies on holes four and 16. In round two, Spoone ended with a 78 as he birdied seven and 17.
Jeremy Ellis is in third among the Senators and in a tie for 34th overall. Ellis shot an 82 in round one but followed it up with a 78 in round two. Ellis had birdies on one, five and eight in round two.
Rounding out Walters State's scores are AJ Rinehart and JT McKenzie. Rinehart is in a tie for 55th after shooting an 87 and 78. McKenzie is in a tie for 60th after an 83 and 84.
Mississippi Gulf Coast's Matt Wilkinson is in first place, shooting a 3-under, 141 through two rounds.
