Senators in third place after opening day of ABAC Stallion Invitational

TIFTON, GA -- Walters State opened up their season on Monday afternoon in the ABAC Stallion Invitational, sitting in third place after the first two rounds at Springhill Country Club. 

 

As a team, Walters State shot 38-over. The Senators shot 316 in round one but followed it up with 298 in round two. Central Alabama leads the tournament at 28-over while Wallace State is in second place at 36-over.

 

Leading the way for Walters State was Nate Vaughan. Vaughan sits in a tie for fifth place after the first two rounds, shooting 6-over. Vaughan shot a 78 in the opening round of the tournament but followed it up with an even par, 72, in round two to push him seven spots up the leaderboard.

 

Along with Vaughan, AJ Rinehart jumped 10 spots on the leaderboard after a 1-over, 73, in round two. Rinehart shot an 80 in round one and sits in a tie for ninth place at 9-over.

 

Other placers for the Senators were Sawyer Spoone (T-15), Hunter Hartman (T-20) and Jeremy Ellis (T-26). Spoone shot a 79 in round one, following it up with a 76 in round two. Spoone is currently at 11-over.

 

Meanwhile, Hartman is at 15-over after shooting a 79 in round one and an 80 in round two while Ellis is at 17-over after shooting an 84 in round one and a 77 in round two.

 

Jefferson State's Trey Rouse is in first place after shooting even par through the first two rounds.

Walters State will be back in action tomorrow in the ABAC Stallion Invitational.
