Senators compete in first round of Tusculum Invitational

CHUCKEY, TN – The Walters State golf team took part in the first round of the Tusculum Invitational on Monday afternoon at Graysburg Hills Golf Course.

 

The Senators currently sit in 11th place out of 17 teams after the first round with a team score of 305 (17-over). Tusculum University is in first place after a team score of 285 (three-under). 

 

JT McKenzie led the way for the Senators on the day with a 72, even-par. That put him in a tie for 12th place.

 

McKenzie was followed closely behind by Nate Vaughan who continued his consistent spring season with a one-over, 73. That was good enough to be in a tie for 20th.

 

Rounding out the scoring was Jeremy Ellis (T-53), AJ Rinehart (T-74) and Sawyer Spoone (T-74). Ellis finished the round with a six-over, 78, while Rinehart and Spoone both shot a 10-over, 82. 

 

Tusculum's Liam van Deventer and Newberry's Alex Pillar are both tied for first after shooting a four-under, 68, in round one.
