Senators in a tie for 11th after opening day of Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, TN – The Walters State golf team is in a tie for 11th place following the opening day of the 2022 Tennessee River Rumble, Monday. 

 

As a team, the Senators currently sit with a score of 19-over. In round one, Walters State shot a nine-over, 297. The Senators stand at 10-over in round two with all five golfers still yet to complete their rounds. The completion of the second round was postponed to Tuesday morning due to darkness. 

 

Belmont Abbey leads the tournament at seven-under. 

 

The Senators were led by AJ Rinehart who currently sits in a tie for 10th place at one-under. Rinehart shot a one-under, 71, in round one after going four-under on the back nine. He birdied holes 10, 12, 14 and 18. In round two, Rinehart is through 12 holes and stands at even par. He birdied the sixth and 18th holes. 

 

Along with Rinehart, Nate Vaughan is in a tie for 18th place at one-over. Vaughan shot a three-over, 75, in round one with a birdie on hole eight. He followed that up with a two-under through the first 11 holes in round two with birdies on the first and 17th holes. 

 

Rounding out the Senators were Hunter Hartman (T-65), Sawyer Spoone (T-82) and JT McKenzie (99). Hartman stands at eight-over for the tournament after an even par round one with birdies on holes one, five, six, 11 and 16. Hartman is eight-over through 10 holes in round two. 

 

Meanwhile, Spoone stands at 11-over in the tournament. Spoone had a single birdie in round one on hole three, shooting a seven-over. Spoone has a birdie in round two, on hole four,  through the first 10 holes. 

 

McKenzie closed out the team for the Senators, standing at 18-over. McKenzie shot an 82 in round one. He has a birdie on hole two through the first 11 holes of round two. 

 

North Georgia's Stephen Kinsel is in first place at 10-under.

Walters State will close out the Tennessee River Rumble on Tuesday with the completion of round two and round three.
