Senators jump three spots in second round of NJCAA DII Championship

JOPLIN, MO – No. 8 Walters State jumped three spots on Wednesday in the second round of the NJCAA DII Championship at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club. 

 

The Senators currently sit in 15th place at 50-over after a 13-over round on Wednesday. It's a 24-shot improvement from round one. 

 

South Mountain CC sits in first place with a 15-over score after two rounds.

 

For the Senators, Jeremy Ellis was the low-man of the round with an even-par, 72. Ellis had back-to-back-to-back birdies on 14,15 and 16 to finish the round with a bang. He shot a two-under on the back nine. Ellis is in a tie for 45th with a 10-over two-round score.

 

Tied for 45th with Ellis at 10-over is Nate Vaughan as he shot a four-over, 76, on Wednesday. Vaughan birdied holes one and 16 in the round. 

 

AJ Rinehart tied Vaughan's score for the day with a four-over, 76. Rinehart birdied holes 10 and 13 and sits at 14-over and in a tie for 64th after two rounds. 

 

Rounding out the day were Sawyer Spoone (T-82) and Hunter Hartman (T-98). Spoone is at 17-over after a six-over on Wednesday. He birdied holes three and seven. 

 

Hartman is at 20-over after a five-over on Wednesday. Hartman birdied holes 10 and 13.

 

Tyler Junior College's Max Reynolds is in first place at four-under after a 66 on Wednesday.

Walters State will be back in action for round three on Thursday at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
