Campbell named NJCAA Third Team All-American

MORRISTOWN, TN — Jessica Campbell was phenomenal for the Walters State softball team in the leadoff spot and in center field all season and, on Tuesday, was rewarded for her efforts.

 

On Tuesday, the NJCAA announced their softball all-american teams with Campbell being named to the third team.

 

It's the Lady Senators first NJCAA All-American since Casey Gilbert was named to the second team in 2018.

 

Campbell helped lead Walters State to a 43-11 record and 27-5 in the conference. The Lady Senators finished runner-up in the TCCAA/Region VII Tournament. 

 

In 49 games this season, Campbell hit .559 with six home runs and 40 RBIs. Campbell scored 70 runs and stole 40 bases. Her OBP finished at .605 as she also drew 19 walks. She struck out just eight times in 177 at bats. 

 

In the field, Campbell had a perfect fielding percentage and totaled 99 putouts.

 

Campbell was fifth in the country in batting average and seventh in OBP. In the conference, Campbell led the league in batting average and OBP, was third in runs scored and fifth in stolen bases.

 

Joining Campbell on the third team were Maura Moore from Crowder, Riley Wertz from Hutchinson, Savannah Barnett from Central Florida, Sophia Stoddard from Southern Idaho, Sasha Williams from Howard (TX), Sydney Anderson from Indian Hills, Makella Mobly from Seminole State, Molly Pendley from Snead State, Nicol Ley from Central Arizona, Rylyn Nelson from Northeastern Junior College, Laura Vigna from Florida Southwestern, Ka'Lyn Watson from McLennan, Shenita Tucker from Florida Southwestern, Paige Westlin from Marshalltown and Camryn Miley from Iowa Western. 

 

The All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division I Softball Committee.
