Coleman named TCCAA Coach of the Year; three named to All-TCCAA Teams

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State's Jasmin Coleman was named the TCCAA Coach of the Year while three players were named to the All-TCCAA Teams on Saturday. 

 

This is the second straight year Coleman has been named the TCCAA Coach of the Year. Coleman earned the honor after her Walters State team finished the regular season with a record of 22-4. The Lady Senators were 17-1 in the conference and locked up the regular season title for the 13th straight time. 

 

The Lady Senators were first in the conference in field goal percentage, fewest turnovers per game and steals per game. They were second in points per game. The Lady Senators finished the regular season ranked No. 19 in the nation.

 

Along with Coleman's honor, Tyasia Reed and Kailyn Farrell were named to the All-TCCAA First Team while Rose Morrow was named to the All-TCCAA Second Team.  

 

Reed was named to the team after averaging 13 points and six rebounds per game. Reed ranked third in the conference in 3-point percentage and totaled three double-doubles on the season. She scored over 20 points in four games and was named NJCAA Player of the Week after scoring 32 points, a career high, against Jackson State.

 

Along with Reed, Farrell was named to the First Team after averaging 14.7 points and eight rebounds per game. Farrell was sixth in the conference in points per game and seventh in rebounds. Farrell recorded eight double-doubles and scored over 20 points in six games. Her career high came on Feb. 1 against Cleveland State, scoring 28 points on 12-14 shooting.

 

Rounding out the honors was Morrow on the All-TCCAA Second Team. Morrow finished the regular season for the Lady Senators averaging 8.6 points per game. Morrow scored more than 10 points in 10 games this season. Her career-high came in back-to- back games on Feb. 4 and 8 against Columbia State and Motlow State, scoring 22 points in both contests.
