CHATTANOOGA, TN – Walters State scored the first six points of Tuesday night's match against Chattanooga State and never looked back as they took down the host Lady Tigers, 3-1 (25-22, 25-11, 15-25, 25-22).  

With the win, the Lady Senators move to 10-8 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. After losing their first conference match of the season, Walters State have won the next six to put themselves in first place.  

Walters State got off the bus and came out firing as they scored six straight to open the match. However, the Lady Senators could not sustain the large lead as Chatt State cut it to 9-8, forcing a Walters State timeout.  

Coming out of the timeout, Walters state settled down and grew the lead to 12-9 and then 18-13. Chattanooga State would hang around, making it 22-21, but a huge Jordan Moore kill at 24-22 gave the Lady Senators the set.  

In set two, it was all Walters State. The Lady Senators allowed Chattanooga State to remain close for a little bit, leading just 7-5, but then proceeded to score 18 of the final 24 points to take the set. Walters State grew their lead to 14 points at one point when they led 23-9. 

After falling in set three, Walters State bounced back in set four, getting up 9-4 to start. The two teams would trade points for the majority of the set with Chatt State getting close but never able to tie the score. At 24-22, Moore ended the match with another huge kill.  

Blaylock approaches 100 career wins  

With Tuesday night's win, Walters State head coach Megan Blaylock achieved career win number 97. Blaylock is 97-46 overall as head coach of the Lady Senators.  

Blaylock will be the first volleyball coach in Walters State history to eclipse 100 career wins.   

Up Next: 

Walters State will be back in action on Thursday when they host Cleveland State for their final home conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
