Coach Megan Blaylock has been associated with the Walters State volleyball program since its birth in 2012. She was a member of the first two volleyball teams before serving two years as assistant coach under previous head coach Jasmin Coleman.

Coach Meg is entering her eighth season as head coach at Walters State with a record of 116-61. She achieved her 100th career win on Oct. 25th, 2021. She led the Lady Senators to the program’s first appearance at the NJCAA DII National Tournament in 2020-21. The Lady Senators entered the national tournament as the 7th seed after winning the Southeast District Championship. Under Coach Meg, the volleyball program has produced one national tournament appearance, five Region VII Championships, a Southeast District Championship, three consecutive 20-win seasons, and two All-American players. She was named the NJCAA Region VII Coach of the Year in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. She was named the Southeast District Coach of the Year in 2020. She has several years of experience as a strength and agility coach, a travel volleyball club coach and has worked summer camps at the University of Tennessee, Tusculum University and throughout the Lakeway area.

Coach Meg makes an emphasis on academic excellence within the program. 39 of her student-athletes have been named NJCAA 1st, 2nd or 3rd Team Academic All-Americans since 2016. The Lady Senators have also been named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-Academic Team each year since Coach Meg took over the program.

As a player, Coach Meg helped the Lady Senators finish 2nd place in the 2013 Region X tournament as a second-year program. She was awarded with being a distinguished scholar-athlete by the TCCAA before graduating cum laude. She played her prep volleyball at Morristown East as an outside hitter. In high school, she was named All- Conference, All-Region and All-Northeast TN first teams and broke three school records as a junior.

She has a M.A. in Exercise Science and Wellness from Tennessee Tech University, a B.S. in Exercise Science from East Tennessee State University, and an A.S. in General Studies from Walters State.
