MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 20 Walters State fell behind early and couldn't catch up on Saturday afternoon in their TCCAA opener, falling 85-66 to Southwest Tennessee.
With the loss, the Senators fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in TCCAA play.
Aiden Goins led the way for Walters State with 17 points, while Charvez Ambrose added 15. Malaki Brooks was the only other Senator in double figures with 13 points. Other scores for Walters State were Anthony Davis Jr. with nine points, Carter Metz with six points and Alex Garcia with six points.
Goins got going early for Walters State, as did Ambrose, but the Senators trailed 45-38 after the opening 20 minutes. Ambrose and Goins each had 11 points in the opening half, while Brooks and Garcia each added five. Metz and Davis Jr. each hit a 3-pointer.
In the second half, the Senators struggled to score with just 28 points as they fell to the Saluqis. Goins added six more points, as did Davis Jr. Brooks had eight points to lead the way.
