Balanced attack leads Walters State over Pellissippi State, 84-39

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State got out to a 24-point halftime lead against Pellissippi State on Tuesday evening and coasted to an 84-39 win over the Panthers.

With the victory, the Senators improved 16-8 overall and 10-5 in TCCAA play.

Aiden Goins led the charge, finishing with 23 points, while Malaki Brooks hit five 3-pointers and had 19 points. Other scorers were Charvez Ambrose with 10 points, Alex Garcia with 10 points, Da'Mori Lytch with nine points, Carter Metz with eight points, Elijah Clinton with four points and Nathan Beasley with one point. 

The Senators shot the lights out early and led 27-10 eight minutes in after back-to-back-to-back threes by Metz, Goins and Brooks. The lead grew to 36-11 after Goins scored four, Ambrose scored and Brooks hit a three. Brooks and Metz scored in the final minute, and Walters State led 42-18 at the break.

In the opening 20 minutes, Brooks hit four 3-pointers and had 14 points while Goins added 11 points. Metz had five points, as well. 

In the second half, the Senators poured it on with 42 more points and held Pellissippi to 21 points. In the final 20 minutes, Goins had 12 more points while Garcia had seven. Ambrose hit two 3-pointers, as well, while Lytch scored seven.

Walters State will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to take on No. 23 Columbia State. Tip is set for 5 pm.
