Lady Senators drop final regular season game at Jackson State

JACKSON, TN – Kristyna Boyd had 20 points on Saturday afternoon, but Walters State fell in their regular season finale to Jackson State, 60-47.  

 

With the loss, the Lady Senators ended the regular season at 17-8 overall and 14-4 in TCCAA play. 

 

Boyd led all scorers with 20 points, while Briontanay Marshall had 11 points. Other scorers were Janae Charles with six, Kyra Perkins with four, Asia Barr with three and Juilenne Ongbagnamen with three.

 

The Lady Senators started well in the game, scoring 19 points and taking a 19-15 lead after the first quarter. Marshall had six points in the quarter, while Boyd had five. Perkins and Charles each had four. 

 

However, the Lady Senators struggled in the second quarter as they scored just five points and trailed 29-24 at the break. The offensive struggles continued in the third quarter, with just 11 points. Boyd had five in the quarter, and Walters State trailed 48-35.

 

In the fourth, the Lady Senators scored 12 points and fell to Jackson. Boyd had eight of those points.

 

Up Next:

 

Walters State will be back in action for the TCCAA Tournament at Motlow State. The tournament will run from March 8-12.
