
SHELBY, NC – Led by Julianne Dodson's seventh-place finish, the Walters State women's cross-country team finished in second place on Saturday morning at the Yeti Invitational.
Dodson finished with a time of 20:53, a PR of almost three minutes, while her teammates Amelia Weeks and Emily Hamilton backed her up with 11th and 12th place finishes. Weeks ran a 22:24 while Hamilton ran a 22:40.
Walters State finished with 69 points, good enough for second place behind Truett-McConnell.
Along with Dodson, Weeks and Hamilton, Molly Wright finished in 18th place with a time of 23:44. Emily Wright was not far behind in 25th place with a time of 25:35.
The Lady Senators average time for the 5K race was 23:03.
On the men's side, Brando Resendiz was at it again with a sixth-place finish. Resendiz ran a 28:44 to lead the Senators who finished in fourth-place.
Alexander LeBlanc was next to cross the finish line for the Senators with a 19th place finish and time of 31:14. Sam Hall finished in 23rd with a time of 31:41.
The final three runners for Walters State were Carl Andes (27th), Jessie Ramos (32nd) and Caden Chambers (34th). Andes ran a time of 32:21 while Ramos finished in 34:19 and Chambers in 35:54.
Resendiz, Ramos, Andes, LeBlanc and Chambers all had their best times of the season on Saturday.
The Senators finished with a score of 97 and had an average time for the 8K race of 31:40. Belmont Abbey came out on top in the men's meet.
Up Next:
Walters State will be back in action on Oct. 8 for their annual Half Marathon. The Half Marathon is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
