SPARTANBURG, SC – Taking on multiple D-I NCAA schools, the Walters State cross country team put together a strong showing at the 2023 Eye Opener.
On the women's side, Julianne Dodson led the way with a 66th place finish with a time of 19:34. For the men, they finished in 14th place out of 18 teams.
Brando Resendiz led the way for the Senators with a 75th place finish and time of 27:32. Finishing right behind Resendiz was Gideon Erwin in 83rd place with a time of 28:01. Third for the Senators was Wade Walters in 133rd place with a time of 31:05 while Juan Guillen finished in 134th with a time of 31:14.
Rounding out the runners for the Senators was Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 152nd with a time of 35:18, Jessie Ramos in 153rd with a time of 35:43 and Benjamin Eigenmann in 159th with a time of 40:01.
Along with Dodson for the women, Chloe Williford finished in 149th place with a time of 23:39. Emma Hamilton was next in 152nd palace with a time of 23:53. Rounding things out for the Lady Senators was Lani Helton in 167th with a time of 26:34.
The women's race was a 5K while the men ran an 8K. The women's race had 176 races, and the men's race had 170 racers.

Walters State will be back in action next Saturday for the Senators Invite on the campus of Walters State. The women's race is at 8:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 9:15 a.m.
