
MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State opened up the cross country season on Friday, hosting the Walters State Invitational.
The men finished in second-place on the day, while the women had four runners compete.
Samuel Runyan was the top finisher for the Senators in the 5k race, finishing in third-place with a time of 19:06. Gideon Erwin was Walters State's next finisher in eighth place with a time of 20:36.
Rounding out the team was Wade Walters in 10th-place with a time of 21:02, Juan Guillen in 11th-place with a time of 21:47, Edgar Martinez in 14th place with a time of 23:25, Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 16th-place with a time of 23:36 and Parker Minor in 19th-place with a time of 24:27.
For the Lady Senators, Tayler Starnes finished in fifth-place with a time of 28:44 while Ava Curry finished in seventh-place with a time of 31:02. The final runners for Walters State were Cindy de Leon in eighth-place with a time of 31:03 and McKayla Ruchala in ninth-place with a time of 31:06.
