
CHATTANOOGA, TN – The Walters State cross country team took part in the 2024 Mountainside Stride on Friday evening.
As a team, Walters State finished in sixth place on the men's side. The Lady Senators had four runners compete.
Leading the way for Walters State was Gideon Erwin with a 27th-place finish and a time of 22:14. Samuel Runyan finished right behind Erwin with a 28th-place finish and time of 22:22.
Other finishers for Walters State in the men's race were Juan Guillen in 32nd-place with a time of 22:41, Wade Walters in 39th-place with a time of 23:28, Edgar Martinez in 49th-place with a time of 25:53, Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 50th-place with a time of 25:55, Benjamin Eigenmann in 52nd-place with a time of 28:46, Parker Minor in 53rd with a time of 28:53 and Walter Kledzik in 54th with a time of 30:04.
For the Lady Senators, McKayla Ruchala led the way with a 38th-place finish and time of 30:56 while Taylor Starnes finished in 39th-place with a time of 30:59. Naomi Merrill finished in 42nd for the Lady Senators with a time of 31:36, and Cindy De Leon finished in 48th with a time of 33:37.
Both races were a 6k.
