De'Marius Boyd named TCCAA/Region VII East Region Most Outstanding Player

GALLATIN, TN – It was a remarkable season on the offensive end for Walters State's De'Marius Boyd and, on Saturday, he was honored accordingly for it.

Following the TCCAA/Region VII Championship games, Boyd was named the TCCAA Most Outstanding Player in the East region. Southwest's Amory Sanders was awarded the honor in the West region of the conference.

Boyd is the first Senator to achieve the honor since Miles Thomas during the 2018-19 season.

A sophomore from Haywood, TN, Boyd was first in the conference and second in the entire NJCAA in points per game, averaging 23.1. Boyd shot 47.1% from the field and scored a total of 358 points in just 17 games.

Boyd helped guide the Senators to a 12-6 season and a No. 2 seed in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament. Boyd scored double digits in all but one game this year and had a 32-point performance against Cleveland State in February, a 32-point performance against Motlow in March and a 38-point performance against Cleveland State on March 27.

Along with Boyd, sophomores Tylar Haynes and Kajuan Hale were named to the All TCCAA/Region VII second team.

Haynes was fifth in the conference in points per game, averaging 15.6. He shot 53.3% from the field and averaged almost eight rebounds per game. Haynes had 22 points on 11-15 shooting in the Senators final game of the season.

The Senators point guard this season, Hale averaged 13.5 points per game and 4.2 assists. He shot 42.1% from the field. This is Hale's second time being honored as he was named to the All TCCAA/Region VII first team during the 2018-19 season.
