Resendiz, Dodson set school records at Berry Invitational

ROME, GA – Walters State's Brando Resendiz set a school record in the 8K on Saturday morning at the Berry Invitational while, on the women's side, Julianne Dodson set a school record in the 6K.

 

In the men's race, Resendiz finished with a time of 27:20, good enough for 36th place. Dodson finished in 12th place with a time of 24:11.

 

The Lady Senators finished in 11th place out of 18 teams while the men finished in 12th place. Both squads went up against tough competition, including NCAA DI Georgia Tech.

 

Along with Resendiz for the men, Sam Hall finished in 105th with a time of 31:01 while Alexander LeBlanc came in 111th with a time of 31:39.

 

Other finishers for the Senators included Jessie Ramos (122th) with a time of 33:18, Lucas Greineder (128th) with a time of 34:04, Carl Andes (137th) with a time of 35:26 and Caden Chambers (143rd) with a time of 36:49.

 

On the women's side along with Dodson, Amelia Weeks came in 54th with a time of 26:20 while Emma Hamilton finished in 76th with a time of 27:48.

 

Other finishers for Walters State included Molly Wright (107th) with a time of 30:56, Emily Wright (118th) with a time of 32:34 and Rachel Jarnigan (137th) with a time of 42:07.

 

Georgia Tech won the race on the women's side while host Berry College won on the men's side.

Walters State will be back in action next Friday morning as they compete in the Region VII Championships in Maryville. The women race at 9:30 a.m. while the men race at 10:00 a.m.
