Senators finish third at Maryville College Invitational

MARYVILLE, TN – The Walters State men's cross country team put together a third place performance on Saturday at the Maryville College Invitational, while the women had three runners turn in strong performances.

 

On the men's side, the Senators finished with 79 points. Brando Resendiz led the way with a third place finish, running 28:27. Gideon Erwin was right behind Resendiz in fourth place with a time of 28:43. 

 

Other finishers for the Senators included Wade Walters in 21st place with a time of 31:23, Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 38th with a time of 37:07, Jessie Ramos in 39th with a time of 37:34 and Benjamin Eigenmann in 45th with a time of 39:24. 

 

On the women's side, Chloe Williford led the way for the Lady Senators in 10th place with a time of 28:37. Emma Hamilton also raced and finished in 12th with a time of 29:03, while Lani Helton finished in 25th with a time of 32:54. 

 

The women's race was a 6k, while the men ran an 8k.

Walters State will be back in action on Friday, October 6, for the Walters State Half Marathon. It is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
