MORRISTOWN, TN - Walters State hosted the Senators Invite on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Senators finished in second place with 53 points. The Lady Senators had four runners compete. The men's race was an 8k, while the women's race was a 5k.
Leading the way for the Lady Senators was Naomi Merrill in 13th-place with a time of 24:07. Along with Merrill, Taylor Starnes finished in 14th-place with a time of 24:17, a four-minute improvement from the season-opening 5k.
Rounding out the Lady Senators were McKayla Ruchala in 17th-place with a time of 25:14 and Cindy De Leon in 19th-place with a time of 26:18. Ruchala's time was a six-minute improvement from the opening-season race, while De Leon's was a five-minute improvement.
On the men's side, Gideon Erwin led the charge with a seventh-place finish and a time of 28:51. Erwin was followed closely behind by Sam Runyan in eighth-place with a time of 29:16.
Rounding out the men's team was Juan Guillen in 13th-place with a time of 30:27, Wade Walters in 18th-place with a time of 32:13, Edgar Martinez in 21st-place with a time of 33:35, Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 22nd-place with a time of 34:53, Parker Minor in 26th-place with a time of 36:04, Benjamin Eigenmann in 28th-place with a time of 39:08 and Walter Kledzik in 29th-place with a time of 40:59.

Walters State will be back in action next Friday in Harriman, TN for the Raider Invite. The women are set to run at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 6 p.m.
