Senators finish third, Dodson second at WS Invitational

 

MORRISTOWN, TN – The Walters State men's cross-country team finished in third-place on Saturday morning at the WS Invitational, while the Lady Senators Julianne Dodson finished in second place in the women's race. 

 

The Tennessee Running Club won both the men's and women's races, while Tusculum finished in second place in both races. 

 

On the men's side, the Senators finished with 79 points, three points ahead of Pellissippi State. Brando Resendiz led the charge for Walters State with a sixth-place finish and a time of 28:05, while Gideon Erwin finished in seventh with a time of 28:25. 

 

Finishing in third for the Senators was Juan Guillen in 19th with a time of 31:23 while Wade Walters finished in 24th with a time of 32:52. In fifth for Walters State was Jessie Ramos in 36th with a time of 35:49. 

 

Rounding out the runners for Walters State were Ignacio Vargas Huipe in 43rd with a time of 37:13 and Benjamin Eigenmann in 47th with a time of 39:31. 

 

For the Lady Senators, Dodson finished in second with a time of 20:02. Chloe Williford finished just in the top-10 as well for Walters State, coming in ninth with a time of 23:23. Emma Hamilton was the final runner for Walters State, finishing in 12th place with a time of 23:36. 

 

The women's race was a 5K, while the men ran an 8K.

Walters State will be back in action on Friday at the UNG Invitational. The men's race starts at 5:45 p.m. and the women will follow at 6:30 p.m.
