Walters State closes out cross country season at NJCAA Half Marathon Championships

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Walters State ended their 2022 season on Tuesday morning, competing at the NJCAA Half Marathon Championships.

 

As a team, the Senators finished in 21st place while the Lady Senators finished in 13th place. Iowa Central won the women's race while El Paso CC came out on top on the men's side. 

 

Julianne Dodson was once again the top finisher for Walters State with a 24th place finish and a time of 1:38:00. The time for Dodson was 13 minutes faster than her time at the Walters State Half Marathon. 

 

Along with Dodson, Ashley Soto Perez came in 65th with a time of 1:56:19 while Molly Wright finished in 78th place with a time of 2:11:14. Amelia Weeks was in 79th place with a time of 2:11:31.

 

El Paso' Faith Nyathi won the women's race with a time of 1:19:59. 

 

On the men's side, just three Senators competed in the race. Sam Hall was the top finisher in 120th with a time of 1:31:45 while Jessie Ramos was 126th with a time of 1:35:20 and Alexander LeBlanc was 129th with a time of 1:41:14. 

 

On Tuesday, Hall bested his time in the Walters State Half Marathon by five minutes.

 

The winner of the men's race was Iowa Central's Aspel Kiprob with a time of 1:07:12.
