No. 13 Walters State complete sweep over Olney Central with 10-0 win

MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 13 Walters State collected 14 hits on Saturday afternoon against Olney Central and went on for a 10-0 win in seven innings to complete the sweep.

With the victory, the Senators improved to 28-5-1 overall. 

At the plate, Holden Pantier led the way with three hits, one being a home run, and two RBIs. Atticus Goodson homered in the game as well, and Tyler Myatt picked up three more hits to raise his batting average to .472.

On the mound, Tyler Welch (6-0) got the start and threw five innings. Welch allowed just one hit and struck out six. Jace Kirby replaced Welch in the sixth and struck out two in his inning of work before Riley Franklin pitched a clean seventh-inning. 

Walters State got on the board first in the game, as three runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the first. Myatt got things going with a two-out, RBI double, and Pantier followed up with a two-run home run to make it 3-0.

The Senators added a run in the third on a wild pitch that scored Myatt, and Goodson made it 5-0 in the sixth with a solo shot. Walters State scored two more runs in the sixth, as Kole Fenton singled in Jack Torbett and Nate Conner tripled home Fenton to make it 7-0.

The final three runs of the game came in the seventh when Justin Bell walked with the bases-loaded to score Goodson, Fenton flew out but scored Hayden Blair and Drew Blalock singled to score Walker Morgan

Walters State will be back in action at home on Tuesday, playing Chattanooga State in a non-conference, nine-inning game. First pitch is set for 2 pm ET.
