
MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 17 Walters State struggled to get the bats going on Friday afternoon, falling 2-1 and 2-0 to Pellissippi State.
With the losses, the Senators fell to 11-2-1 overall and 1-2 in TCCAA play.
GAME ONE: Pellissippi State 2, No. 17 Walters State 1
In game one, Walters State had six hits and left seven on base.
Aiden Robertson (3-1) got the start on the mound and threw six innings. Robertson allowed two runs on five hits and struck out nine. Rowan Park replaced Robertson in the seventh and struck out two in his inning of work.
At the plate, six separate Senators had a hit while Jack Torbett drove in the lone run.
Pellissippi State got the scoring going in the top of the fourth with two runs, but Walters State cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Myatt singled to lead off the inning, and Walker Morgan moved him to second with a single. After two outs, Torbett scored Myatt with a bunt single.
Unfortunately for the Senators, that was all they could muster as they fell 2-1.
GAME TWO: Pellissippi State 2, No. 17 Walters State 0
In game two, the Senators had just four hits in the loss.
Gage Peterson (1-1) got the start on the mound for Walters State and threw 2.1 innings. Peterson gave up two runs on four hits and struck out five. Jace Kirby threw the final 2.1 innings, allowing one hit and striking out five.
At the plate, Jack Vogele, Holden Pantier, Kole Fenton and Myatt all had hits.
