JACKSON, TN – Kory Klingenbeck homered for the fourth time in as many days on Sunday afternoon as No. 1 Walters State completed the sweep over Jackson State with an 11-0 win in six innings.
With the win, Walters State improved to 26-3 overall and 7-1 in TCCAA play.
Klingenbeck was one of four players who homered on Sunday in the run-rule victory. Caleb McNeely led the game off with a home run while Cole McCallum had a grand slam and Kruise Newman a three-run homer.
McNeely and Andrew Ott each had two hits in the game while Colby Backus knocked in two runs as well.
Jake Knapp made his second start in six days on the mound and improved to 8-0 with the win. Knapp allowed two hits in four innings while striking out nine. Geo Rivera pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits while striking out one.
Walters State broke out to the early lead in the game with McNeely's leadoff home run. The Senators broke the game open in the third with five runs, headlined by McCallum's grand slam. The bases became loaded after Ott singled, McNeely singled, Backus grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Ott and Block walked.
In the fourth, Klingenbeck led off the inning with a home run to make it 7-0. It was 8-0 later in the inning as Backus singled in Ott, who had doubled.
Newman capped off the scoring in the top of the sixth as he blasted a pinch hit, three-run home run to make it 11-0.

Walters State will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to take on Cumberland University JV. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
