Senators drop 78-63 contest to Polk State

SWAINSBORO, GA – Walters State fell behind early and could not recover on Friday afternoon, falling 78-63 to Polk State in the East Georgia State Classic.

With the loss, Walters State fell to 6-6 on the season. 

Aiden Goins led the way in the scoring column for the Senators, finishing with 13 points. Others in double figures for Walters State were Anthony Davis Jr. with 12 points, Da'Mori Lytch with 11 points and Malaki Brooks with 11 points.

Along with those four, Charvez Ambrose had seven points, Elijah Clinton had six points and Alex Garcia had three points.

It was a rough start for Walters State, falling behind 42-21 at the half. Goins led the way in the opening 20 minutes with 11 points, while Lytch had six. The only other Senators to score were Ambrose and Davis Jr. with two each.

In the second half, Walters State tried to cut the lead but Polk State continued to hit shot after shot and took the 15-point victory. Brooks scored all 11 of his points in the final 20 minutes, including three 3-pointers. Davis Jr. also had 10 points in the half, while Clinton hit two 3-pointers.

Walters State will be back in action on Friday, January 3rd, at home against Experience Academy. Tip is set for 5 pm.
